Many small businesses find Facebook time-consuming and often feel out of their depth with it, especially when it comes to advertising. The term Facebook advertising covers a few different areas including actual ads, promoting pages and boosting posts. This blog is dedicated to explaining clearly and simply what boosting posts means.
WHAT IS “BOOSTING A POST?”
As you may be aware, Facebook has been limiting organic reach ie less of the people who like your page, are getting to see your posts. By doing this, businesses are having to pay for their posts to be seen by their fans and boosting a post ensures that this will occur.
HOW DO I BOOST A POST?
Easy peasy! Simply click the “boost post” button at the bottom of any post. You can either boost a post after you’ve already posted it, or you can boost it when you schedule it (and it will boost once it’s posted).
That’s up to you. Facebook has a minimum of $1 per day. It can be as little as $1 or it can be as high as you’d like. If you play around with the amounts, Facebook will show you an estimate of how many people will see the post according to the budget you set.
When boosting your post, you can choose to show it to either “People who like your page and their friends” or “People you choose through targeting”. If you choose “people you choose through targeting” and you’ve done this before, you’ll notice that Facebook will show a “Default Audience” ie it has remembered the audience you’ve targeted previously. If you want to target different people, click on the “Default Audience” button and choose “Create Audience”.
HOW LONG WILL IT BOOST FOR?
Unless you specify, Facebook will default it to boost for one day. But you can choose a number of days that suits you by clicking on the drop down key.
